The Study on the Effects of Assistive Technology Satisfaction on Job Performance, Job Satisfaction, New Activity, and Quality of Life of Employees with Disabilities

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the outcomes of assistive technology on the employment of People with Disabilities using Structural Equation Model(SEM). SEM was used to investigate how satisfaction for assistive technology influences job performance, job satisfaction, new activity and quality of life. In this study a population of 4,142 workers with disabilities were extracted from the list of workers that were provided with assistive technology devices by the Korea Employment Promotion Agency for the Disabled(KEPAD). The survey sample was extracted using stratified and systematic sampling. Face to face interview was conducted from Sept. 17, 2008 from Oct. 11th 2008. Total of 512 interview surveys were analyzed. The findings were processed using the SPSS 15.0 and AMOS 7.0 program. The results of the data analysis are as follows. First, there was a multiple dimension structure showing direct/ indirect effect on the job performance, job satisfaction, and quality of life for using assistive technology by workers with disabilities. Second. job performance and job satisfaction has a mediated effect on the relationship between assistive technology and the quality of life of workers with disabilities. Third, there were structural weight differences between the group of severely disabled and mildly disabled. Especially people with severe disabilities were more effected by job performance, job satisfaction, and new activity than people with mild disabilities.
